The Logistics Transportation Planner position provides the tactical execution of the transportation team through load planning, load tendering, and load scheduling functions to meet internal and external customer expectations.  The Logistics Transportation Planner interacts with a large number of internal and external critical partners.  The position needs a self-managed individual who is aligned with the goals and expectations of Supply Chain as daily activities are conducted.

Ideal candidates would have 1-2 years brokerage experience on the Carrier side.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

•       Efficiently plans, tenders, and schedules the distribution of products using TMW brokerage software.

•       Daily interaction with cross functional areas including customers, carriers, facilities.

•       Works with accounting on customer invoice and audits and process carrier payables.

•       Take initiative and make decisions independently weighing customer needs/facility requirements/carrier capacity and escalation as appropriate.

•       Utilize TMW and published route guides while balancing service and costs.

•       Maintains the daily communication to all affected parties. Represents a critical “face” to these same groups and will maintain a proper professional approach in all interactions.

•       Track and trace activities to ensure optimal service.

•       Provide proactive communication on service failures and field requests for status updates on critical shipments.

•       Works to optimize warehouse and deployment schedules, carrier equipment, mode, lane costs, and customer on time delivery.

•       Pursue Continuous Process Improvement on a regular basis.

•       Resolve conflicts / discrepancies positively and professionally.

•       Builds strong working relationships with internal and external customers, to include, customers, carriers, and facilities.

•      Performs other duties as assigned


•      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

•      Transportation and/or logistics experience preferred. Load planning experience a plus.

•      Experience with transportation management system applications.

•      Requires a professional approach to internal and external customer and/or vendors.

•      Experience in a tactical and fast paced environment a plus.


•      Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

•      Strong attention to detail.

•      Strong verbal and written communication skills.

•      Analytical, decision making skills and good judgment is required.

•      Strong interpersonal skills a must.

•      Must be able to manage the multi-tasking, priority shifting stress of an operational environment.

•      Must be able to function in a team environment.

•      Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook programs.

•      Ability to self-motivate and work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
