Driver Manager - Transportation

We are actively seeking a Driver Manger for our Plainfield, IN location.



1st Shift Hours: Approx. 7am to 5 pm; Subject to change based on operational needs

The Driver Manager is responsible for a safe work environment for all drivers assigned to him. The goal is to obtain the highest possible level of customer satisfaction of parts delivery to all dealerships, and add value to customer services. He/she manages DOT regulated drivers; and maintains Black Horse Carriers and customer compliance standards on a daily basis. He/she creates a teamwork environment which fosters employee engagement and job satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Hire and train qualified drivers per Black Horse Carriers’ standards and customer requirements.
  • Manage drivers supporting the terminal to ensure drivers are assigned to dedicated routes.
  • Maintain employee records including driver’s logs, TMW information and payroll.
  • Manage/maintain utilization of equipment and resources used in support of the terminal.
  • Prepare and submit fuel reports to vehicle leasing companies and the interstate vehicle state line crossings.
  • Ensure the business/drivers remain in compliance with Federal and State regulations, including but not limited to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and OSHA.
  • Use effective communication skills with facility staff in communicating with dealerships.
  • Address customer’s concerns and manage service expectation.
  • Maintain good working relationship with all vendors; and, review all invoices for errors and omissions.
  • Meet KPIs and operational cost forecast expectations.
  • Foster a positive employee relations environment.

Other Duties:

  • Maintain all employee files to meet DOT and Black Horse Carrier compliance standards.
  • Maintain operational rules, procedures and/or practices within company safety compliance.
  • Any other job responsibilities as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum three (3) years supervisory experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; and presentation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with OBC technology as it relations to transportation management.
  • Solid organizational, analytical competencies that result in the ability to manage multiple projects and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to be flexible with shift schedule.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
